This class is for students who speak very little English. Our goal is to help students become familiar with many basic English words and phrases using fun games and activities.

English 2 – Intermediate

Teachers: Kathy Deicher, Elizabeth Goodrich, Rachel Cutts, Suzie Jones

Our Intermediate English class will take your English skills to the next level. We will build your vocabulary and improve your confidence in speaking with friends, teachers, doctors, salespeople, and others. We will chat in small groups, play games, share stories, and act out role-play scenarios

English Conversation

Leaders: Debbie Hallock, Carol Iddings, Nancy Issacs,

This class is for students who have studied English for several years and can converse in English but want to improve their grammar and conversation skills. This class is limited to 18 women.

Spanish 1: Beginning

Teachers: Sue Chan, Patricia Brabon

This class is a continuation of beginning Spanish using the book 15-Minute Spanish

(ISBN 978-0-7440-7372-0). It includes a free audio app for help with pronunciation. Emphasis is on vocabulary and phrases useful for travel, shopping, and restaurants. We will also learn some essential verbs and grammar.

Coffee, Chai and a Classic

Leader: Janeen Plumer

Travel back in time to the First Century World as we “hear” through reading from a man named Luke who was a physician, historian, world traveler and author. Luke, through a middle eastern lens, allows us to walk with him in an ancient land occupied by the Roman Empire, to study the life of a controversial figure named Jesus who claimed to be the Savior of the World. Discover and discuss the conclusions Luke came to as we investigate the biblical book that bears his name that changed not only individual lives but the course of world history.

Choir

Teachers: Janet Adams, Jama Martin, and Karen Wright

The choir class at Friendship will be a wonderful opportunity to make music together. We will

learn about the voice, about the basics of music and singing, and we will learn several anthems to share with the larger Friendship gathering. Come join us in the joy of singing in a choir!

Games With Girlfriends

Leaders: Dee Barnett, Gladys Barnett

In this class, you will make friends as you learn various games played in American homes. A new card or board game will be taught approximately every 3 weeks giving everyone time to learn and play each game. There will also be opportunities for our international women to teach a game from their home country too.

Line Dancing

Teacher: Carolyn Hale

We will combine several styles of music, 8-count rhythms, and lots of smiles to improve your fitness as you learn beginning/improving level line dances. The only requirements are athletic shoes and the ability to count to 8 - in any language!
